Candidate Statement
Quality education begins with quality teachers. Students in the San Mateo Foster City School District deserve the wonderful educational experiences that can only be provided by quality teachers.
I am disturbed by the number of teachers leaving our schools. Five years ago, our district was able to recruit and retain fantastic teachers because of its reputation for innovation and collaboration. Today, our teachers are leaving for more money and a more respectful relationship with their administration.
As
a parent, volunteer, and PTA President I spend hundreds of hours working
closely with parents, teachers, and students throughout our district.
This experience provides much-needed perspective to the board's actions.
I believe that our district needs productive partnerships based upon trust and meaningful communications. I will foster a stronger partnership between parents, teachers, administrators and the community.
